It all began during the pandemic. Brian McCarthy loved his job as a bartender, but it came to a sudden halt — along with the rest of the world — when he was laid off in March 2020. He spent months transforming an old Vegas airport luggage tram from craigslist into an exquisite traveling bar. Years later, the Traveling Town Tavern is still going strong.

Our paths crossed unexpectedly when we attended our friends' 25th anniversary party at their home last month. It was an absolutely beautiful evening, the first sunlit Saturday out of 16 straight weekends of rain. Like so many experiences since I started my blog this year, I wasn't expecting the color, the novelty and added touch that the Tavern brought to the evening. It was something surprising and different that made their night (and ours) so much more memorable.

Can't Wait to Check Out Traveling Town Tavern? Here's all you need!

Dan and Anna Borelli hired the Traveling Town Tavern to tend bar for guests in their backyard. The small mobile bar with its rustic wooden exterior and delicate blue barstools blended seamlessly with the surroundings. It was the perfect backdrop to their beautiful hillside gardens and soft summer string lights, a welcome addition to the quiet charm of the Borelli's candle-lit cocktail tables, cozy outdoor couches, and delicious appetizer stations scattered among the wildflowers.

It's impossible to convey the utter peace of the evening as the sun went down — Chris Stapleton's slow-burning "Tennessee Whisky" wafting across the yard, 25 years of memories projected on the large screen, curled up on the loveseat with a delicious craft cocktail, my husband and I sharing conversations with people we'd met only hours before. I've always loved the way a party unfolds over the course of an evening, the way it takes on a unique life of its own as family and friends begin to blend, as those who are new to the scene and those who've been around for a lifetime start interacting, sharing stories, laughing, and celebrating the people who brought them all together. What begins as guests awkwardly finding their footing during the day changes as the sun sets, when the crackling glow of the fire lends itself to true connection. And the Tavern was a large part of this experience.

While the Tavern provided a beautiful area with a small bar and plenty of seating for guests to gather outside the vehicle, it wasn't just the backyard vibe that made it so special ... inside the Tavern was just as interesting. With eclectic decorations thoughtfully placed around every inch of the tiny space, a cozy love seat, two small tables, and more bar stools for extra seating, it provided another area away from the summer heat for guests to enjoy as well. Mike, who tended bar, was fantastic, and we all enjoyed chatting with him about old TV shows, random trivia, local haunts, and how much he loves the unique job.

Because the Tavern doesn't have a liquor license, renters of the mobile bar choose and supply the beverages — and a full-service bartender takes all the legwork out of hosting. The delicious Azalea cocktail chosen by the Borellis was perfect for the evening.

Much like their hosts, the Tavern added such a unique touch of understated elegance and warmth. We couldn't imagine a better way to usher in the next 25 years.

We were honored to attend the Borelli's incredible anniversary celebration. The food, the music, the entire summer solstice vibe was impeccable. And we were so impressed with Traveling Town Tavern for making an already fantastic evening that much more special.

The Traveling Town Tavern's versatility sets it apart, seamlessly adapting to any type of event. While it provided an upscale, rustic farm-to-table vibe that matched the Borelli’s party perfectly, it's also ideal for casual tailgating, bachelor parties, work events, and birthday celebrations, offering four Smart TVs for streaming your favorite movies and sporting events, outdoor heaters, 15-foot party tents, and a pool table as add-on options. The mobile bar is so successful, Brian has reluctantly had to turn down events, but he's looking to add additional vehicles and more features in the near future. We can't wait to see what's in store!
